I popped over to Loughborough on the 21st June to kill a few hours and realised that Loughborough station had been given a new identity called "Cemetery Junction"
A film crew were busy transforming ths station into as they were going to be filming on the station for a week.
Large Billboard signs had been erected for "Clarks Shoes", "Kit Kat", "Smash" and "Cadburys". The bar and cafe on the platform had been converted to offices and a moch up cafe was also put together on the back of the gents toilets.
Nobody was giving much away but i believe that filming was taking place for a new movie with Ricky Gervais in it (according to a chap on the station)

50135 looked fantastic in load Haul livery
73006 aslo looked great in the best livery ever BR Blue

All the stored 86s and 87S were accessable as well as the other stored locos. never got chance to have a ride on the shuttle because it derailed off the tracks

As well as a comprehensive passenger time table,, there was also a mixed good service running between Swanwick junction and Butterly.

There was also an opportunity to partake in "Driver for a fiver" which meant that you could drive "Andrew Barclay No 416" for a fiver which was excellent fun.

All in all a very good day out.

A cracking day spent on the Nene Valley Railway. I took these pictures on the Sunday of their March Diesel Gala weekend. The sun played ball in the morning but it went overcast about lunchtime and then we had some more sunny intervals throughout the afternoon.
The main reason for the visit was to get shots of DRS Tractor 37667 and GBRF Shed 66732. Other locomotives in service included Class 40 D306 "Atlantic Conveyor", 31271 "Stratford 1840-2001", 47270 "Swift", 37518 and D5401

70013 Oliver Cromwell looked superb and it was good to see the Q6 63395 in action on different freight trains throughout the afternoon.

The Friday timetable was not as extensive as the weekend runnings but the weather was pretty good fo the time of year.

I have also added some shots taken at the Night photo shoot which i think could have been better with stronger lighting anc colder weather.

It was an excellent day with the following traction in service. D306,20069,25057,31271,37518,73136,47270,56312,66729 and the 3 Teddy Bears

The services ran about 30 minutes late due to the fact that 66729 and 73136 needed to get down to Wansford from Peterborough which meant that the 09.40 train was held until the pair arrived.

The weather held out although some sun would have been welcomed. 37518 looked marvellous in Railfreight Grey and i though 56312 looked smart as well, although i don't think it will be everyones cup of tea!!

It cost Ten pounds to get in and it was free for under 16s when accompanied by an adult. It was a brilliant afternoon and i took my nephew along who had his first real taste of modern traction. He really enjoyed it
Tyseley must be commended on their ticketing policy as the youth of today are the future of the hobby we love so much!
